Role Overview

This is a full-time Software Engineer role in Pune, focused on building automation and data processing pipelines to detect and prevent financial crime. You'll work in a cross-functional agile team, analyzing large datasets and developing software that matters because regulatory deadlines don't wait. It's ideal for someone who enjoys both coding and understanding the "why" behind the business logic.

Responsibilities

• Work with developers and architects to design scalable, high-performance data processing pipelines • Use analytical and querying techniques to understand datasets, find issues, and improve performance • Apply both classic and modern engineering approaches across a range of technologies • Collaborate with tech, business, and modeling teams to clarify requirements and support delivery • Follow the bank's SDLC, architecture, security, and data governance processes • Create compliant, well-documented solutions that can stand up to scrutiny • Actively join Agile ceremonies—stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retros, and technical design discussions

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills—you like breaking down messy problems • High proficiency in Python or Java, plus SQL • Some exposure to data management concepts (BigQuery, Hadoop, or Spark is a plus) • Good communication skills—you can talk to both techies and business folks • Interest in Anti-Financial Crime or the payments industry (helpful but not required)

Must-haves

• Solid coding skills in Python or Java and SQL • Ability to work in an agile, cross-functional team • Willingness to learn about financial crime and regulatory requirements • Based in or willing to work from Pune • Full-time availability for a regular, permanent role

Nice-to-have

• Familiarity with Big Data technologies like BigQuery, Hadoop, or Spark • Prior exposure to Anti-Financial Crime, payments, or banking domains • Experience with production support or data quality controls • A collaborative mindset—you see engineering as a team sport
